Investors, Raising Money, And Term Sheets
Starting a company for the first time and raising money is like opening Pandora's Box. There are challenges at every turn, and if you are unprepared, lazy, or cowardly then You Are Fucked.
However, everything changes with the Internet, and now everybody has the opportunity to learn about anything they want in just about as much detail as they can handle. One of the difficult parts for startups and entrepreneurs is that there is still a cloud of mystery surrounding raising money and negotiating deal terms. There is still a lot that you can only learn by jumping in wholeheartedly, maybe making some mistakes along the way as well, but there is also a lot that you can do to educate yourself.
Preeti is an entrepreneur in the Valley and she's recently started a YouTube series about her experience as an entrepreneur. Some of her videos are a great entry-point into the world of raising money, so make sure that you watch them if you ever plan on taking in outside capital. It's really an incredible thing that people like Preeti can now very easily blog/record and share their experience and knowledge with the rest of us.
