Skycar developer loses $1.5 million

Moller International, the Davis company that’s developing a flying car called the Skycar, announced it had lost $1.5 million in 2006. The company blamed increased legal costs and lower than expected sales for the loss.

Moller’s flagship product, the Skycar, is a flying vehicle capable of vertical take off and landing and is designed to be piloted by consumers. The Skycar has had several successful tests (see video), but not received FAA clearance and is not available for delivery to the public. Moller is taking pre-orders for the Skycar for prices ranging from $500,000 to $1 million.
